Mechanical Derailment Detector adopts mechanical acting mode and could timely connect the main brake air pipe to the atmosphere when the vehicle derails, applying emergency braking of the train and minimizing the loss and damages of the derailment accident. The derailment detector device is installed by adding two branches of the main air pipe of the original air braking system and the original braking system performance remain unchanged.

How it works?
Mechanical derailment detector device is mainly composed of derailment auto broken valve, branch pipes, tee for branch pipe, ball valve, tee for main pipe, etc. The core part is derailment auto broken valve, which comprises of valve body, brake valve rod, pull ring, top beam, adjusting rod, acting rod, lock nut, shrapnel, etc.
When the railway freight car derails for some reason, the wheel and axle position will change and the pull ring or top beam of the derailment auto broken valve will touch and collide with axle, and this force is transmitted to the brake valve rod through the adjusting rod and acting rod. The brake valve rod is designed thin wall structure and easy to be broken at out force. Once the brake valve rod is broken, the brake system’s channel to the atmosphere is opened and the emergency brake will be applied immediately. When the freight wagon is empty and details, the axle of the derailed wheel set breaks the brake valve rod; when the freight wagon is loaded and derails, the axle of the derailed bogie without derailed wheel set breaks the brake valve rod.
