Brake cylinder is one of the most important parts in railway air brake system and it directly affects railway vehicle’s running safety.
Air brake cylinders for locomotive or railway wagons can be divided into 14 ″, 12 ″, 10 ″ and 8 ″ according to the inner diameter of the cylinder. The full stroke of the piston rod is 254 MM. It is mainly composed of cylinder body, Y shape sealing ring, lubricating sleeve, piston, piston rod, recovery spring, brake cylinder cap assembly, filter for front cap, etc. The cylinder body is manufactured by spinning process by high quality carbon steel. The structural advantages of spinning sealed brake cylinder are light weight, simple structure and reliable performance.

How it works?
Air brake cylinder produces push force according to the air pressure change and its piston size. Brake cylinder directly output this push force to brake rigging device through cylinder piston rod. Then the brake rigging device transmits the push force to the brake shoes or brake pad to contact the wheel thread, realizing brake. When the vehicle need to releases, the brake cylinder’s push rod withdraw device will draw the brake rigging device back and the brake shoes will leave the wheel thread
